When I wrote Blood and Soul back in 2004, I had intended for
it to be just one novella about two seemingly different people discovering they
were soul mates. Twenty three novellas and three short stories later, this vampire
universe is still a major part of my writing life.
The Bloody or Nothing series was meant to be the last
stories set in this universe. In it the vampire warriors of the original twelve
fought against the mysterious New Reign. The evil leader of the New Reign used
temptation to recruit minions and while Bloody or Nothing focused on the
vampire warriors of Las Vegas, others all over the world were being tempted as
well. To me, instead of an end to these stories, it was the beginning of an
exploration of trials faced by vampires everywhere.
Scarlet Nights focuses on Blair and May, from the moment
they meet in the late 1800s until today, when they're tempted by the leader of
the New Reign.
I've enjoyed writing about their passion and their trials.
Hopefully you'll like reading Scarlet Nights as much as I liked writing it.
