Shapeshifters possess the ability to break out of the traditional role model, a quality i think many of us would envy. They don't have to be just one mode or the other, they can access both..Now remember, i'm the reader who likes far-ranging types of weres, not just wolves:} But yes, i love them for the same reason i love paranormal, science fiction, and fantasy: shifters break out of the consensus-reality mode:}

I LOVE Shapeshifters because they are more in touch with their sensual side. Most male shifter heroes are Alpha males who take care of their mates and families with both strength and love.
ReplyDeleteAs a BBW, I love the fact that a lot of shifter heroes appreciate a Rubenesque figure and they are strong enough to make one feel feminine and soft. Shifters are rarely, if ever, prejudiced to a body type.
If a shifter hero loves, he loves with his whole being and willingly shows it anywhere and everywhere. (WG)
And as said above, they are SEXY as HE** and give the best of two very distict worlds.
How can you NOT love a shifter?

You know, I have to wonder this myself. Do you suppose shapeshifters are more sensitive to a BBW because they too have stigmas? Like they drink blood or get all hairy?

How can you not love a shapeshifter? They represent an element of danger and are sexy as hell!
ReplyDeletethey tend to be passionate, sexy, protective, and when they meet "their mate", let an alpha female express her strengths and passion as well. And the learning curve makes for some amusing and very hot scenes.

ReplyDeleteI'm just going to chip in that I love writing shapeshifters because they're literally animalistic in their wants and needs! They're going to be thinking about feeding, fighting and fucking even more than a human male...which is a lot...and which is also fantastic for an erotic hero.
ReplyDeletePlus, it's a lot of fun to bring out certain animal qualities in them: for instance the werewolf who protects his pack, or the werepanther who oozes grace and strength.
Matter of fact, I'm writing a female were now, and let's just say she can be a bit of a bitch!
I think, like some, that what's so great about shapeshifters is the idea that they have a 'mate'. Just that idea makes me want to read a shapeshifting story...oh, okay, it doesn't hurt that most are also hunky alpha males, lol :-)

ReplyDeleteI think just about everyone has a fascination for animals. They are either cute and cuddly or dangerous and beautiful. Shapeshifters reflect both those sides, plus they have intelligence. While holding the man, you hold the dangerous animal hidden inside. When in animal form, he is formidable but also still approachable because of that human reasoning and intelligence within. And then there are the more primal instincts. The relentlessness and determination, the chase and capture. A lady wants to know when she is wanted and needed. Shapeshifters are never subtle about letting that show. In fact, emotions seem to run deeper in the shapeshifter community compared to other paranormal species. Atleast in my opinion.

I love shapeshifters for their combination of animal and human characteristics-powerful, primieval, feral, territorial, deep capacity of passion, seductive, protective and able to be tamed.
ReplyDeleteThey all appear to be faithful to their mate, and their "endowments" always seem to increase when they shift!
ReplyDeleteI finally got a chance to check back in on this subject and love the other answers given. I agree that the idea of one soulmate is a very appealing part of a lot of the were stories. To mate for life is a wonderful "ideal" life. To find someone who loves you no matter what and is with you for all time...wow, that's wonderful (well, as long as they are wonderful...lol ... but who wants to get stuck for eternity with a dud?) Now that sounds like an idea for a funny story....
