Susan St. James has lived a hard life. The men she's known have proven themselves to be faithless liars, manipulators, and even abusive at times. When she's taken captive and transported to Vaaden, a planet in another galaxy, she figures not much has changed for her. Sylon, a male Vaaden warrior, comes to the holding cell to claim one of the slaves for his own. He chooses Susan, liking her willingness to please him. It doesn't take long for Sylon to realize his captive is passionate and full of vivaciousness. However, Sylon has a temper, and after Susan is injured, he realizes that she means more to him than she should.

I'd been held captive in the dank holding cell on Vaaden for far longer than I liked, so I was pleased to see the Vaaden warriors. My cellmates quaked in terror next to me and I fought the urge to roll my eyes. It was doubtful either of them would make it on this harsh planet. Thanks to the translation machine on the wall, I'd heard enough talk to realize we would be sold either as sex slaves or prostitutes. Honestly, considering some of the guys I had dated, being a man's sex slave didn't bother me, especially if there was a chance I would be taken care of.
The first man stepped into the cell, a good six inches taller than my five-foot-six frame. He wasn't as tall as the other two. His eyes were the color of a sunset and seemed to burn into me. Neatly brushed chocolate hair framed his face, and his features were pleasing; his full mouth was kissable. His skin was a dark bronze and I wondered if he worked outside.
He quickly dismissed Sorcha and Enid and came to stand before me. Reaching out, he fondled my breasts with his large, warm hands, and I felt my nipples pucker in response. He seemed to be satisfied and shoved me to my knees. I knew what he wanted before he asked and I shivered in anticipation. He unfastened his pants and his large, thick cock sprang free, just begging for attention.
"Suck me," he commanded.
I licked my lips and leaned forward, taking him into my mouth. I sucked and licked him, enjoying myself immensely. When he was close to finding his release, he grabbed a handful of my hair and shoved himself further into my mouth. I felt his warm cum shoot down my throat.
"Swallow it all," he said roughly.
I was only too happy to comply. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Sorcha watching with a mixture of horror and fascination. If my mouth hadn't been full, I would have grinned. I wondered what she would think if she knew I'd practically had to whore myself out to keep a roof over my head and food on the table. A line of drug dealer and alcoholic boyfriends had littered my past. Apartments infested with roaches and rats were the norm for me. I'd definitely been in worse situations.
When the Vaaden was finished, he fastened his pants and hauled me to my feet. Facing the guard, he said, "This one is mine."
The guard looked at me. "Is that what you want? Or would you prefer a life serving many?"
"I'll go with him." I felt like saying duh! What woman would prefer to be fucked by hundreds instead of belonging to just one guy?
The guard nodded and motioned for us to leave the cell. The ground under my feet was rough and cold, but I didn't care since I was free from that wretched cell. Outside, the double suns shone brightly, nearly blinding me. I winced and covered my face as best I could. Sensing my distress, my savior lifted me into his arms and carried me the rest of the way to my new living quarters.
When we reached my new living space, he set me down on my feet once more. The door opened with a whoosh and he ushered me inside, and then flipped a switch inside the door I had learned activated the translator.
The apartment-like space was on the plain side, but seemed functional. Honestly, it was better than some of the places I'd called home. If I didn't have to share my bed with rats or bugs, it was a step in the right direction.
"This is your new home."
The snarky side of me wanted to say something bitchy, but I refrained -- barely.
"My home? Not your home?"
He shook his head. "My home is with my wife."
Well, hell. It figured I would have to share him. That didn't sit well with me, but there wasn't anything I could do about it. I'd hoped to have him all to myself. He was a nice-looking guy and I'd wanted things to be different. My previous boyfriends had all cheated on me. Of course, on a planet where I was just a slave it had been silly of me to think that perhaps my owner might belong to me and only me.
"So, if you live with your wife, how often will I see you?" I asked as I looked around.
He leaned against a wall and watched me. "Often enough."

The large Vaaden warrior entered the cell and stopped in front of Sorcha. I could tell she was scared, but I was glad he hadn't noticed me. Then, he continued past her and stopped inches from me. My heart hammered in my chest and my eyes were wide in fear.
He reached out to touch my hair and I flinched. I hadn't meant to, but it wasn't something I could control. I wished I could show Sorcha's bravery.
He frowned at me and I knew I had displeased him.
"Why do you flinch when I try to touch you?"
I opened my mouth, but no sound would come out. It was as if my vocal cords had frozen in my throat. I felt paralyzed with fear.
"She doesn't like to be touched by anyone," Sorcha told him, and I silently thanked her.
The warrior stepped closer, and I forgot to breathe, dots danced in my vision and then blackness overtook me.
* * *
I awakened some time later in a lavish bedroom. Looking around at the foreign surroundings, I spotted the warrior in a nearby chair.
"You're awake." His voice was deep and dark, smoky like whiskey.
I trembled, knowing I should speak but I couldn't.
I watched, helpless, as he stood and came closer. He stopped at the edge of the bed and sat beside me. Slowly, he reached a hand toward me and gently stroked a lock of my hair. I felt proud of the fact that I was able to hold still, even though I was terrified and trembling.
"Easy," he murmured, and I realized I was hyperventilating. So much for my bravery. "What's your name?" he asked softly.
I swallowed hard, forcing down the knot in my throat. "Enid."
"I'm Bastian."
I stared at him, uncertain of what he wanted. I'd heard Susan tell Sorcha what to expect, but the idea of being intimate with a man petrified me. What would happen when he realized that I wouldn't be able to please him?
"Why are you afraid of me? The woman in the cell said you hate to be touched."
"It... it isn't that I hate being touched. It scares me."
"Why?" I looked away. When his fingers grasped my chin, I jumped and looked at him, wide-eyed and ready to run, not that I had anywhere to go. "Why does my touch scare you?" he persisted.
"Not yours, specifically. Anyone's."
He stared, waiting on my answer. My heart felt like it was going to pound right out of my chest and I wished he would move further away. I felt my palms grow moist and queasiness rolled through me. I only hoped I wouldn't get sick. Even though I'd been stuck in the cell for weeks, I suddenly wished I was back there.
"I... I... On my way home from work one night, a group of men dragged me into an alley... they..." I closed my eyes against the memories. "They held me down and..." I stopped, unable to complete the sentence. The horrors of that night still lived in my mind, but putting voice to the events made them even more real.
"They raped you."
My eyes flew open at the steely tone of his voice. Anger sparked in his violet eyes and a muscle twitched in his jaw. He really was a breathtaking man. Even as terrified as I was, I could appreciate his masculine beauty. Once upon a time, his attention would have flattered me, but not now. "Yes."
"Was that your first time?"
I blushed and nodded, my gaze remaining trained on his face.
Slowly, he reached for me and gently cupped my cheek, his thumb caressing me. Surprisingly, I didn't flinch or pass out. I didn't think he meant me any harm, and while I didn't know for sure, he had been gentle with me so far. At least for the moment.
"I'm sorry for your pain and what you had to endure. No woman should ever go through that."
I stared at him in surprise. "Isn't that what... what you're going to do to me?"
I cringed at the fury I saw in his face and waited for the blow I was sure would follow. When it didn't, I relaxed a little, watching him warily. He didn't seem to be as horrible as the man who had claimed Susan. If anything, he seemed gentle, even if he didn't look it. No, he looked like a god ready to do battle, a man who could command the thunder and lightning.
"I will take my pleasure in your body, but it will be nothing like your previous experience." He grinned. "You may even like it."
I doubted it, but I didn't voice my opinion. I had a feeling it would only anger him, and I knew I didn't want that anger to be directed my way. If anything, I'd prefer that he ignore me all together. It didn't seem that I would get my wish. When the time came, I only hoped I didn't throw up on him.

"While the two of you were sleeping, I listened to the guards speaking with the women across the way." Susan gave me a cruel smile. "They made them strip and then looked them over like cattle. Some are being forced into prostitution."
"What?" I stared at her, stunned by her words. How could she remain so calm about it? Terror gripped me and my insides turned to ice.
"It seems the men on this planet are very virile and need to have sex on a daily basis. The few mates they have can't handle it, so the men go elsewhere for their entertainment."
"Do we have any other options?"
She shrugged a shoulder. "If you're lucky, one of the males will want you to himself. Either way, you're going to spend the rest of your life on your back."
I fought down the nausea that welled inside me. The idea of being someone's whore revolted me. I'd dated precious few men in my life, and none had sparked enough of my interest for me to have a sexual relationship with them. Yes, at the age of twenty-three I was still a virgin. To know I would lose my virginity to a savage from another planet, that I would no longer have any say over my life, was a blow to my mind and my heart.
Enid whimpered. "I won't survive."
I hunkered down beside her. "Yes, you will. We all will, even if it isn't a pleasant existence."
She shook her head. "You don't understand. I can't stand to be touched."
The fear in her eyes suddenly made sense. She knew what was to come, what we faced. If she couldn't stand to be touched, it was possible she would die at the hands of our captors. I doubted they would be caring enough to soothe her fears and ease her mind. The monsters would probably take what they wanted no matter the consequence to the young woman.
"Maybe they'll understand," I offered, knowing it was a lie. I wasn't sure what would become of her, but I knew it wouldn't be pleasant.
A metal door clanged open at the end of the hall and heavy footfalls sounded down the corridor. A guard with three men stopped in front of our cell. The men looked us over, as if deciding whether we were worth their time.
The tallest of the group had shaggy golden brown hair and turquoise eyes, an athletic build and golden brown skin, as if he had been working in the sun. On Earth, he would have passed for a model or actor. The second man was a little shorter but just as fit, with chocolate-colored hair and eyes the brilliant orange of a sunset. The last man left me feeling cold. Tall with a swimmer's build, his long black hair and violet eyes were striking, but he had a hardness to him that bespoke of cruelty. I fervently hoped he didn't select Enid, but I didn't want him to select me either. Honestly, I didn't want any of them; I just wanted to go home.
The guard opened the cell and gestured for us to line up along the back wall. The chocolate-haired man followed him, eyeing each of us from our head to our toes. When he stopped in front of Susan, he leered at her and reached out to fondle her breasts. Appearing to be satisfied, he shoved her to her knees and unfastened his pants. His thick, hard cock sprang free. "Suck me," he commanded.
Licking her lips, Susan did as he bade without the slightest hesitation. In appalled fascination, I saw her mouth move over him, heard the sounds of her sucking and licking him. He grabbed a handful of her hair and forced himself further into her mouth. I was unable to tear my eyes away as he ejaculated and told her to swallow every drop. Even more horrifying, she seemed to enjoy it.
Lowering my head, I gazed at the floor. Was that what would be expected of me? My heart was beating wildly in my chest and bile rose up in my throat. While Susan hadn't seemed to mind the act, I wasn't sure it was something I would be able to do.
The man refastened his pants and helped Susan to her feet. Grasping her arm, he faced the guard. "This one is mine."
The guard turned his attention to Susan. "Is that what you want? Or would you prefer a life serving many?"
"I'll go with him."
The guard nodded and motioned for them to leave the cell. Next, he allowed the black-haired man to enter. He stopped in front of me first, but dismissed me quickly enough. Stopping in front of Enid, he reached out to touch her red hair. When she recoiled, he stopped and his hand dropped back to his side.
"Why do you flinch away from me?" he asked in his cool, clipped voice.
She stared at him with frightened eyes and opened her mouth, but fear kept her from responding.
"She doesn't like to be touched, by anyone," I answered softly, hoping he wouldn't punish her for keeping silent or me for speaking out of turn.
The man's gaze never strayed from her face. Slowly, he moved closer, watching as her chest began to rise and fall rapidly ands the color seeped from her face. When she fainted, he caught her in his arms. "I'm taking this one," he told the guard and headed for the door with long strides.
"Bastian, you know you're supposed to give her a choice."
He gave the guard a cold look. "She fainted when I was still inches away from her. How do you think she'd react in a room full of men?"
The guard let them leave without another comment, obviously deciding Bastian was the lesser of two evils. For Enid's sake, I hoped he was right.
I was the only prisoner left, and there was only one man.
"Thale, you'll have to take this one or wait until next week to see some others. Assuming she wants to go with you."
The man called Thale stepped into the small space, stopping when he was a mere inch from me. With gentle hands, he traced the contours of my face and neck. Gripping my dress, he ripped it in half, exposing me.
I gasped and tried to cover myself, but to no avail. He pushed my hands out of the way and spread the dress open. As his warm hands caressed my breasts, I felt my nipples harden. I was embarrassed that my body responded to him when my mind was screaming for him to stop.
He fingered my long dark hair. There was something in the turquoise depths of his eyes I didn't quite understand, but I had a feeling I would soon. Whether I wanted to go with him or not, I knew the other option wasn't possible for me.
"I'll take her."
The guard looked at me expectantly and I knew he wanted my confirmation.
"Yes, I'll go with him."
Thale swung me into his arms and carried me from the cell. With long, determined strides, he carried me from the prison and out into the light.
I closed my eyes, the brightness of their planet's two suns too much for me after being in the darkness of the prison. Trying to force myself to relax, I laid my head on his shoulder. It was better to accept my fate than to fight.
