The number one reason I like collections is because they
offer great value to readers. The stories in the Big City Collection are priced
at $1.60 each. That’s a bargain!
Many of my stories are loosely connected, set in the same
world or with the same type of paranormal, and all of my stories (excluding my
serial – He Watches Me, He Touches Me, He Claims Me) can be read on their own.
Does putting these stories into a collection improve the
reading experience?
With the Big City stories, the answer is YES! These five
stories (Big City Dragon, Big City Vampire, Uptown Dragon, Uptown Vampire and
Big City Wolf) can be read on their own but they were truly meant to be read
together, in that order.
The characters interact, which makes sense, as they’re all
paranormals living in the same city (New York City). They’ll know their fellow
paranormals and likely have issues with each other (especially the super
territorial dragons). Ortho, the hero of Uptown Dragon, is the villain in Big
City Dragon. Ember, the heroine of Big City Wolf, appears in many of the
stories.
The setting is also an important part of the story. Frey, a
dragon from the Bronx, has a different outlook on life than Ortho, the
Manhattan dragon. They dress, act, speak differently. But they are both New
Yorkers and have the similarities that come from living in close proximity
(such as the challenges huge dragons have while flying in a busy city).
