Passion ignites when Maximus, a gladiator with a sixteen-year winning streak, meets Desirous, a former harem boy, in the combat. The one-time adversaries unite under the strict hand of Lace, Maximus' wife and trainer.
With two hunky warriors and a headstrong Amazurnian woman, sweat and strain move from the arena to the bedroom. Despite his years as a sex toy, Desirous is looking for love. Does he have a chance for something permanent with Max and Lace, or is he just a side order?

"You've got to be joking, right?" Redd, chief rep of Southern Brotherhood training facility on Alpha Island South, snorted with laughter.
His smile quickly faded at Desirous' steely look.
"Listen," Redd continued, "what you're asking is out of the question. I'll admit, six years ago you were a top gladiator, but that's ancient history."
"I've won the three fights I've had since returning to the games six months ago. I might not have competed over the past six years, but I've never stopped training."
"You've been a sex slave for a rich female who's now behind bars. In fact, your involvement in that scandal would be the only reason we'd even consider embarrassing ourselves to try getting you a match against Maximus."
"If you need to use that scandal to get me in the arena with him, then do it," Desirous ground out. The mere mention of his former mistress, Nipplonia, sickened him. He had risked his life to gather enough evidence against the sick bitch to put her behind bars for the torture, rape and murder of more men than he cared to think about.
For six years he'd suffered physically and emotionally while serving her. Still he had no one but himself to blame for that. He had willingly walked into her domain, surrendering his rights in the only place on Amazurn where men lived in relative freedom.
"Even if we negotiate using that kind of sensationalism, what makes you think Maximus will fight a has-been?"
"This has-been is about to become the best fucking gladiator on Alpha Island South," Desirous said.
Redd shrugged. His slanted brown eyes swept all six-feet-six inches of Desirous' rock-hard body. "I suppose it's possible. You're still young enough to make a comeback, but Maximus is arguably the greatest male gladiator on Amazurn. If he beats you in this early stage of your comeback, it won't be much of a win for him and if he loses to you it will make him look bad."
"And it will send me right to the top of the games."
Redd looked thoughtful. "You have a definite size advantage over him, but he has incomparable technique and I've seen him train. The guy has more stamina than a racing shuttle."
"He's also getting old. Thirty-three, right?"
"A gladiator of his quality could possibly last until his forties."
"Or he might get buried tomorrow," Desirous said softly.
He'd seen magnificent warriors crushed in their prime. That's how his career had ended six years ago. After his lover, Tempest, had been killed in the ring, Desirous lost his passion for everything, including the arena. If Tempest had seen how he'd given up...
Just thinking about it shamed and sickened Desirous. Rather than honor Tempest's memory, he had disgraced it and himself by becoming Nipplonia's puppet. Never again. From now on his life would be different. As Redd said, he was still young. It wasn't too late for him to reclaim his dignity. What better way to remind gladiatorial fans that he still existed than to challenge one of the greatest warriors on Amazurn?
Maximus might win, but if Desirous could stand with him for the full twenty minutes designated for single combatants in the arena, he would prove himself worthy of the sport.
Maximus hadn't lost a fight in sixteen years. All five losses of his career had occurred before his eighteenth year. He'd beaten bigger, stronger men and had worn down youths known for incredible stamina.
As a young gladiator, Desirous' goal had been to fight Maximus and surprisingly the urge still remained. Last year when he decided to return to the arena, his foremost thought had been he still had a chance to fulfill the dream of meeting Maximus in combat.
"You want to go for the kill?" Redd raised an eyebrow. "This might turn out to be interesting after all."
"I don't want to kill him. I just want to end his winning streak."
Redd laughed. "You and just about every gladiator on the island. I have to admit, Desirous, you have huge balls to want to tangle with him after you've been on a six-year vacation."
Desirous' gut clenched and he struggled against the urge to beat this little shit within an inch of his life. Yet during his years serving Nipplonia he had learned self-control.
"Can you or can you not get me the match?" Desirous demanded, his voice deadly calm.
The chief rep narrowed his eyes and sighed. "I can try, but if Maximus and his representatives agree, I doubt I'll be able to negotiate a decent fee for you. You might be a novelty, Desirous, but at this point you're not a worthy opponent for him. We'll be lucky if he doesn't take our challenge as an insult."
"Cut the bullshit, Redd. I'm not that bad."
"Well then let's see if we can give you a chance to prove you're more than a rich woman's toy."
Desirous' teeth clenched. He'd love to slap down this twerp, but the best way to make Redd eat his words would be to go the distance with Maximus.

Dix knows Maura is the one for him the moment he sets eyes on her. Now he's out to convince Maura he might just be the perfect mate for her.
But a demon hunter’s the last thing Maura needs, especially one as hot as Dix. Right?

"Look, I can see that you're a demon killer, okay, but I can't sell you this herb without some sort of identification. I need to know you're of legal age. Pennyroyal can be exceptionally dangerous." Maura stood behind the counter of her magic shop and crossed her arms over her chest, trying to appear taller than her whopping five-three. Really, big men always... loomed. Especially if they were far too attractive men with dark hair and glorious green eyes. Not that she noticed such things. She was a business woman.
"Demon hunter." The man's teeth were grinding audibly. "I don't kill every one I come across. I've never had to show ID to buy pennyroyal before. My partner needs it."
"Ha. Killer, hunter; it's a matter of semantics. You've never tried to buy the oil from me before, I'm afraid."
Those green eyes flashed furiously at her, his big body tensing up. "Lady, I swear to --"
Maura held up a hand. "Please don't swear in my store. Bad things can happen, depending who you call on. There are too many avatars and such in here."
He blinked before glancing around, his shoulders pulling up around his ears. "Sorry."
"Yes, well. Mister..."
"My name is Dixon. You can call me Dix."
"Mr. Dixon. Why does your partner need it, exactly?"
"He has fleas."
Maura relaxed, smiling at him. "He." The man had a male partner. That made him much less intimidating. Though, eek on the fleas. That had to be murder in bed. "Well, a drop of pennyroyal on the skin will definitely help that. He should absolutely not ingest it. It's not an internal elixir." She started preparing an empty bottle for a dose of her pennyroyal flea remedy.
"Huh. Where can I put it that it won't get licked off?"
"You..." Maura blushed, her cheeks on fire. "Can't you control yourself long enough to let him get rid of the fleas? I can't imagine having, er, sexual relations with someone suffering from flea bites. Not only is it unsanitary, it's itchy. Honestly, men are so driven by their urges." Dead silence behind her made her peek at him over her shoulder. He simply stared at her, mouth open. Oh, dear. She'd offended him.
"Lady, I don't have sex with Bingo. He's a dog. Most of the time."
"Oh. Oh! I'm sorry, I assumed... Well." She fluttered, her hands wavering when she poured. "You said partner, and I thought you meant 'life' not 'hunting'."
"Well, that's what you get for assuming. Here's my ID." He slapped it down on the counter, and Maura picked it up, peering at it.
Dixon Elliot, age thirty-two, from Shreveport, Louisiana. His driver's license picture looked just like him, which wasn't fair. Those kinds of pictures should make a person look like a prison inmate or an escapee from the psych ward. Hers certainly did, what with the crazy hair and angry eyes. She'd had a hard time parking at the DMV that day.
"I'm sorry I called you Mr. Dixon, Mr. Elliot. Just one moment and I'll finish up your remedy." She handed back his ID and went to work, trying not to be so aware of him. It was a difficult task. He was back to looming and smoldering, like something out of one of those awful vampire movies.
Honestly, sexy vampires? Please. Everyone knew they were dead things that smelled like rotting flesh. There were some demons who were very attractive, but they all had an odor, whether rot or brimstone. Dixon Elliot smelled spicy and male. Elemental and hot, and maybe a little like wet dog, but that was okay. Maura liked dogs.
"I told you to call me Dix, huh?" He grinned, his white teeth flashing. He was simply too charismatic.
"You did. I don't know you, however, so I'll stick to formal. Here you are. That's thirty-seven-fifty."
Dix handed over two twenties, but when she reached for them he grabbed her hand. "You could get to know me."
"What?" Her pulse speeded up and Maura tried to ignore the way his touch made her skin tingle and her nipples harden. Gracious, she'd never had a man's touch send that sort of electricity through her.
"I hate being formal. We should get cozy. Coffee? Lunch? Dog walking?" He smiled again, which had suspicion creeping in.
"What do you want?" He had to want something else. She hoped it wasn't help hunting a demon. She wasn't good at that. Some of her friends had demon in them.
"What do you mean?" Dark brows pulled down into a frown, his face clouding up. "I can't just like you?"
"No." Maura yanked her hand back. "Demon killers --"
"Hunters."
"Hunters like you are men of action. They're not interested in girls like me."
"Ah. Well, I got news for you. My partner thinks you're perfect for me."
"Your partner who's a dog and has fleas."

"Reeeuunited and it feels sooo goooood... Reeeuunited cuz it's under... good." No, not good, it was something else, but she couldn't remember. Undergood wasn't a word, was it? No, that wasn't right. Ah, well, it didn't matter. She was a SUPERSTAR.
Maddie was officially six sheets to the wind and loving every minute. Opting to karaoke via her chair, head thrown back, loud and frighteningly off key, she sang her heart out.
"Bartender..." Maddie slapped the table with the palm of her hand, "I need another drink. A big, big, big one." Maddie's head fell forward on her arms. She laid her cheek against her wrist and closed her eyes.
Maxine leaned over toward Maddie and brushed the hair from her eyes. "No, mi amiga, you don't need another drink. You need to go home and get some sleep."
Maddie lifted her head from the table and tried to focus on Maxine. "No, I want another drink. I want one with the pretty pink umbrella like Victoria has." Was that her with the slurred speech?
"Darling, you're smashed," Victoria informed her, "and I think they only give you a pink umbrella if you have what I'm drinking and you can't do that, Maddie, because then you're mixing your alcohol, which leads to puking and puffy eyes and all sorts of things that are ugly for your skin."
Maddie pounded her hand on the table again. "I want another drink." Pushing the hair out of her eyes, she waved her arm in the air, pointing her finger at the poor bartender. "You, bring me another drink and put an umbrella in it. Humor me."
"Hookay, Maddie, it's time to go home. I'm calling Corrine so we can get your address." Katy rubbed her back in soothing circles while she called Corrine on her cell phone.
"Okay, Corrine," she heard Katy say somewhere far off in the distance, "I will, I promise. Bye."
Maddie felt her head bobbing, but she couldn't seem to get control of the up and down motion. "Is Corrine going to get me another drink?"
Katy chuckled. "No, but she said you're missing the Home and Garden channel's spring extravaganza..."
Maddie sat upright. Ooh, a spring extrava... ex... extra... Oh, whatever. She loved their fall bonanza. Was it fall? Yes, it would have had to be, because there were no winter flowers and that was the last one she could recall watching. Were there flowers in the winter? No, certainly not. It was too cold. Brrr, cold.
"Okay, Kaky," Maddie said, popping up, "I have to go. The Home and Garden channel has a special tonight."
"I've called you a cab. C'mon, we'll wait outside with you. I think a little air would be a good thing."
Maddie let Katy lead her through the bar and out the door. "You are really nice, Kaky. I like you and I think your husband was a stupid head for drifting away... Or whatever he did."
Victoria let her perfect nails rest under her nose to mask the smell of Maddie's breath. "Whew, Maddie, you are snockered."
Maddie threw her arms around Victoria, knocking her slight frame backward. "Oh, Victoriaaa, Vic... turia... Vick-EEE, maybe you should get snockered too, an' then you won't be a CON-TROL freak."
Victoria patted her back and stepped away from Maddie. "Right, darling, and you're the perfect example of what I want to be when I finally run amok. Thanks for showing me the way."
"Uurre welcome." Maddie smiled, her lips curling awkwardly.
Maxine giggled when Maddie wrapped her arm around her shoulders and gazed deeply into her eyes. "Maxie, did Mr. Puerto Rico do that to you?" She referred to the small, white scar by Maxine's lip. Maxine's hand flew to her mouth, but Maddie pushed it away. "He's a mean jerk and if he ever touches you again, I'll... I'll... well, I dunno what I'll do. But it'll be really bad. So there." Maxine hugged her hard and Maddie sniffed the warm cinnamon and vanilla flavor of her coat.
"Okay, Maddie. We'll see you next week, I guess, right?" Maxine asked.
"Are we gonna get snockered and sing karaoke again?"
Katy took Maddie by the hand and opened the cab door for her. "We'll see what happens then, okay? For now you go home and get a good night's rest."
"K... Kaky, bye."
Maddie watched as the three women turned into a blur of color that made holding her head upright difficult. She liked them and she wanted to go back to see them again, but not before she had more sex.
Cole would want to have sex. She'd call Cole.

Blurb:
Simon is the lead hunter of the pack and most trusted confidant and advisor to the Alpha. He's also one of the most feared wolves in pack history, and no one has ever known his equal. Now he must hunt the most powerful enemy he's ever encountered before she destroys the one most precious to him.Excerpt:
Adopted daughter of the Alpha, Sasha is a powerful shifter in her own right. She's only now coming into her heritage as a witch, but her power rivals that of Simon's prey, Deloris. She knows Simon's hunt is important to the pack, but never suspects it might all be a trap to draw her into Deloris's deceitful web of malice.
Carefully, opening all her senses to the least disturbance around her, Sasha
crept from her hiding place and approached the cave. There were traps, she knew.
Intricate and difficult to counter or unravel, but she knew none of them were
beyond her capabilities. So far. She had no doubt it would take a very long
period of time to get through, and in that time Deloris might well free herself
and emerge more powerful than Sasha could handle, but if it was important enough
to worry Simon, it was important enough to make the effort.
$You will not do this alone, Sasha. I absolutely forbid it!$
Immediately, Sasha backed off. Not because of his imperious order, but because
if he could break her mind blocks, he could be a distraction. She had no doubt
she could keep anyone else out, but Simon knew her defenses too well.
$I can do this, Simon. She's here and vulnerable. She thinks she's safe, but she
doesn't know I can see her spells of safeguard.
And are you certain you can see all of them? Did it ever occur to you she might
be luring you to her with your own arrogance? You're powerful, Sasha. You may
even be more powerful than Deloris. But you're not as experienced. Your mind and
body have matured more rapidly than anyone could have ever known, but you're
running on blind instinct. You have no experience to back up your abilities. The
Dark Witch is terrified of something. I think she senses your power. She may not
know it's you, but she recognizes a rival witch. If she ever figures it out,
you'll be in more danger than you could ever imagine.$
Sasha hissed, but recognized the truth in what he was saying. Grudgingly, she
backed off and sprang back into the woods. Unwilling to go back to the pack, she
made her way back to her own den.
$I want you back with the pack, Sasha! Now!$
His anger beat at her so much she wanted to do what he said just to get relief,
but she wouldn't. She'd never let anyone dictate her life, even as a child.
There had always been something different about her that allowed her mind to
process things a normal child couldn't. Simon hadn't been able to boss her
around then, and she certainly wasn't about to let him start now.
$I really don't give a fuck what you want, Simon. I'm going home. To my den. You
don't like it? Tough shit.$
As firmly as she could, she slammed the door to her mind shut. Sasha felt his
efforts to get a peek inside -- probably to confirm where she went -- to no
avail. His frustration and anger bored into her like steel shards, and she
actually winced. Still, no matter how uncomfortable it was, she had no intention
of letting him force her compliance. Or know her every action.
Instead of going to her den, like she'd told him, she headed deeper into the
forest. Away from Deloris, but not to anyplace Simon could find her.
Damn the man to hell and back! He made her feel like a little girl sometimes.
She hated it. She wasn't just struggling to prove she wasn't a child, she
struggled to simply fit in. She was a witch and a shifter in a pack of
werewolves. She might be partly of their world, but she didn't completely
belong. She never would. No matter what her surrogate mother and father said or
believed, the pack saw her as an outsider and, therefore, a threat. She could
sense it in every thought when she was around.
As nice as it would be to be totally accepted by her father's pack, it wasn't
what really mattered to her. Simon was the only person she cared to impress. She
hated that it mattered so much, but there it was. If the man didn't want her,
she didn't want to spend her life pining after him.
But she knew she would. Everything in her screamed that he was hers, and she
didn't even want to fight the attraction. She just wanted him. Simon. She wanted
him to want her the way he'd seemed to want her when he'd kissed her earlier.
Even now, in her cat form and speeding through the forest at break-neck speed,
she still felt the searing aftereffects of that kiss. The power of it had rocked
her world and made her tingle from the top of her head to the tips of her toes.
Her core throbbed and leaked moisture from between her legs with wanting him.
Needing him.
Deep in the thick of the forest, Sasha found a thicket of pine trees with a soft
bed of moss in the middle. Once safely inside, she shifted to her nude, human
form. There was no need to clothe herself. No one was around for miles. Besides,
she was so hot she wasn't sure she could stand anything confining her skin. She
needed the cool air kissing her flesh. The moss, cool and damp at her bare back,
comforted and soothed her as much as anything could.
As she lay there panting, sweat soaking her body, she clenched her fists in the
springy foliage in frustration. Her body was on fire! She wanted Simon with a
ferocity she wasn't prepared for. It was as if that kiss they'd shared had
ignited an inferno deep inside her, and there was no extinguishing it with
anything other than him.
Knowing it was useless to resist, Sasha let her hands wander her damp skin,
stroking and titillating her sensitized flesh. Her nipples stabbed her palms,
and she squeezed and pinched them. Gently at first, then with more pressure and
vigor. Biting her lip, she prevented herself from moaning under the pleasure
coursing through her body.
What would it be like for Simon to touch her like this? His big hands would be
rough and callused. A man's hands. Would he be gentle or would he be aggressive
in his own passion for her?
Lost in her musings, Sasha's hands wandered down her body to her cunt. As she
slid her fingers through the triangle of tight curls surrounding her sex, a
small whimper escaped before she could suppress it. She parted lips slick with
moisture to find the nub of her clit and circle it once. Sasha would have been
lost in sensation now no matter what, but, unbidden, the image of Simon's dark
head between her legs looking up into her eyes as he bent his head to feast
popped into her mind. That was all it took to bring an orgasm unlike any she'd
ever experienced at her own hand.
The strength of her cry was second only to the strength of the wave of pleasure
that crashed around and over her. Her hips bucked and thrust against her fingers
in spasmodic movements, and she thrashed her head from side to side, her eyes
closed tightly.
Breathing hard, heart racing, sweat suffusing her body, Sasha slowly opened her
eyes…
And looked straight into a pair of piercing blue eyes.
"You likely led Deloris straight to you with that little stunt. Did you even try
to suppress your passion or did you intend to draw her out?" Simon glared down
at her. He must have just shifted from his wolf form, because he stood before
her gloriously naked, sweat glistening off his skin in the faint sunlight
streaming through the trees.

"And who is the next petitioner?" Prince Reiter sounded as bored as Phoenix felt. Hearing grievances was the most tedious part of court life. Reiter forced his lords to attend, citing it as training for when they took an active role in their own estates.
Whenever that would be. Phoenix examined his buffed nails and scowled at their perfection. Every day, it grew more difficult to justify his role as one of the prince's top warriors. Every evening, it took more women to satisfy his carnal urges. Every night, he was haunted by a vision of pale green eyes.
"A lady, my lord prince, is wishing an annulment from her absentee husband," Lord Griffin announced, his lips pressed into a grim white line.
This unusual request garnered the attention of all those in attendance. "Her name?" Prince Reiter asked.
"She did not grant it. The lady is embarrassed, my lord prince." Phoenix heard the sympathy in the big warrior's voice. "The marriage is long left unconsummated, and she is a great heiress. She wishes her independence."
"Likely so does her husband." Prince Reiter snorted. "If her dowry cannot bring her reluctant groom to bed, she must be uncommonly hideous." The other warriors laughed. "Mayhap I will suggest she wear a mask to bed." The laughter increased in volume. Even Phoenix, foul mood though he was in, smiled. "Or mayhap a full length sheet with one hole cut in it for entry." The tent rolled with mirth.
"My lord husband," the kindhearted Princess Lizbeth rebuked him.
"Ahhh... you are correct, Princess. I should not be so unfeeling. Not all women are as blessed as you are." Phoenix felt a tinge of envy at the look of devotion passing from prince to princess. With all the women he bedded, he had never been the recipient of such a look. "This lady is deserving of our pity, my lords. Show her in, Lord Griffin." Prince Reiter waved his ringed hand. "Let us be charitable and hear her petition."
Guards pulled back the tent flaps. Music drifted in on the breeze, the tune sensuous and haunting. Two comely wenches entered, each skillfully playing an ancient instrument. Phoenix smelled their sweet perfume. They were scantily dressed in silks and scarves, their feet bare, their long hair flowing upon their slight shoulders. Their hips swayed as they wound between the warriors.
"This is how one should approach their prince," Prince Reiter murmured. What the lady lacked in physical charms, she compensated with intelligence. His lord was clearly captivated, leaning forward with interest. Her strategy impressed Phoenix. Her petition would be granted.
"Our lady, my lord prince," the shorter minstrel announced.
The tent flap folds revealed a leg, long and lean and a flawless ivory. A slim ankle, bejeweled with a golden chain of tiny bells, moved in a circle. Lust surged through Phoenix. He wished to suck on those bare toes. He longed to caress the curve of that calf.
Then the whole of her shimmied into the tent and her feet were forgotten. Red hair the color of an autumn sunset cascaded down a proud, straight spine. Her breasts were small and firm, concealed only by spirals of gold. Her flat stomach was bare. Her hips were covered by more gold. Her harem pants were made of the sheerest green fabric.
She was too far away for Phoenix to see her eyes, but he knew their color. They were the most fragile green like the leaves in the spring. Her face was no longer round with youth. Her cheekbones were high and regal. Her mouth glistened with moisture. Flames danced from her fingers as she moved, undulating to the rhythm.
"A fire sorceress," a nearby warrior murmured, his voice thick with lust. Phoenix balled his hands into fists. The urge to strike his friend was great.
This fire sorceress was his. He stepped forward, attracting the seductress's attention. She continued to dance but not for the crowd. She danced for him -- her hands stretching out to him, her hips rocking toward him. Her pants burned into nothing. The gold covering her breasts and hips glowed with the heat. The flames around her built until she was surrounded by fire.
The fire called to his beast, as her hypnotic, winding movements called to the man. All the passion he had felt for her on their aborted wedding night returned, pumping fiercely through his veins. It was now without the taint of guilt. His child bride was no longer a child. She was all woman, and she had come for him.
He would gladly go to her. He placed his hands on the wall of flames, feeling the burn upon his palms. She smiled at him slowly, her head tilting back, her pale neck exposed, her breasts thrust up. Phoenix wished to bury his face in those curves and to never again emerge. The smell of burning cloth filled the tent. The pain intensified.
"Leave her be, Lord Phoenix," Prince Reiter commanded, breaking her magic.
"I will not." Phoenix had never before refused his prince anything but in this, he would not obey. "She is mine." He had waited long enough to claim her.
"Nay, warrior," Prince Reiter barked. "Not this one. This lady is not for you."
The flames dissipated and the music stopped. She turned to the prince. "You are very wise, my lord prince." She dropped into a curtsy, displaying her fine cleavage. "It took me twelve years to determine what you saw in one minute. Lord Phoenix is not for me." She raised one fine red eyebrow, her green eyes sparkling with mischief. "Are you, husband?"
Did she deny their union? His sexual frustration roared to anger. "You dare to embarrass me in public, wife?"

"Hard. So. Hard. Gods."
Tam grinned at his ability to render Aleo monosyllabic. She could only get out a single word with every thrust of his hips.
He leaned into her and licked her lips. "Don't talk. You'll bite your tongue."
She grabbed his head. Her fingers clawed at his scalp, probably trying to grab at hair that wasn't there. Tam had had too many lovers trying to pull his hair out while in the throes of passion. He kept his black hair close-shaven to avoid that pain.
With a frustrated sound, Aleo clamped her hands around his head and pulled him down to her lips. She didn't have to be so rough. He wanted to kiss her.
Tam pressed his lips to hers and forced her to open her mouth wide so he could taste every bit of her. He dominated the kiss, plundering her deep for his enjoyment. Aleo wasn't complaining and neither were the hundreds of mermen watching Tam's performance. In fact, many cheered.
Their adulation only made Tam harder. He melded his front to Aleo's, burying himself as deep as he could go. He snaked his navy blue tail from side to side, which pressed his exposed genital slit against hers. The woman screamed her pleasure. Several women in the crowd echoed the cry.
If he didn't find his mate this rite, then Tam would not lack for female companions thanks to his exhibition this day. Turning his attention from Aleo, he looked at the crowd. Was his mate there? Could she feel him calling her? Had his raw sexual energy scared her so much that she couldn't bring herself to approach the stage?
He doubted the last but entertained himself pretending it was true.
Feeling the magic of the rite all around him, Tam mentally grabbed a tendril of the energy and called out to the mate he knew was meant for him.
Come to me. I know you're there.
"Tam. Please, Tam. Let me come," Aleo spoke her plea in a soft voice. She kissed his chin and then his neck. "Please. The next couple is waiting to start. Please."
Tam smirked at her. "You beg so prettily, Aleo. I didn't know you had it in you." He bucked forward. "Or maybe it's because I'm in you that you've become so docile."
"Please."
He reached between them, pushed his finger inside her above his cock and then pressed upwards.
Aleo arched backwards, almost touching the tip of her tail to the top of her head. She worked her mouth but no sound escaped. Her whole body was taut as she experienced her climax.
When she relaxed once more, Tam left her body. The act had been pleasurable, but it hadn't satisfied him. Sex hadn't satisfied him for a little over a year. When he'd been selected as a chosen, he'd been overjoyed. At last, his true mate would come. And then, so would he.
The couple on the stage next to Tam and Aleo's engaged each other. The majority of the crowd shifted to the side to watch. A few stragglers, mostly women, stayed and cast longing glances at Tam.
He winked at them but only as a flirtation. If they were not his gods' chosen mate, then they weren't worth his time.
Slender fingers wrapped around his shaft and stroked him from base to tip. Aleo kissed his neck. "That was magnificent."
"You're welcome."
"You're still hard."
He looked over his shoulder at her. "Do you plan to do something about it?"
Aleo gave him a sly look as she curved herself around his side. She took his full length into her mouth. He could feel her swallowing him. As a momentary distraction, it was a good one. Tam doubted it would make him come. He wouldn't tell Aleo that. She was doing a good job trying.
He reclined and placed his hand on the back of her head.
Why won't you answer? Come to me.
None of the onlookers approached the stage.
Tam growled to himself. He breathed in deep, closed his eyes, focused on all of the energy surrounding him and sent out one thought as hard as he could.
Come. Now. I need you.
He didn't know what would happen. An answering call of mutual need? A woman from the crowd flinging herself at him? A smack on the back of the head from the gods for trying to hog their power for himself when there were many others trying to achieve the same goal?
He let his head loll back. Maybe he would be one of the chosen who didn't get a mate. Or maybe he would be one of the few who called a human mate. It was rare when it happened, but not impossible. A human wouldn't be able to get to the depths of the ocean where the rite was held, not without the help of a transition amulet.
If she tried, would Tam be able to hear her distress?
He opened himself to whatever was out there, hoping to feel his mate's presence.
Something burned down his spine, making him jerk.
"Tam, did you come?" Aleo looked up at him.
He ignored her and looked around. The burning happened again, quicker this time. Was this it? Was this the call of his mate?
A shimmering rainbow caught his attention. He stared at that shining, iridescent tail as though mesmerized. The burning ran up and down his spine, spreading to his entire body until he thought he would combust despite the water surrounding him.
He held out his hand as he lifted his gaze to his mate's face. "You came."
The man before Tam had worry creating deep furrows in the flawless pale skin of his forehead. All of the man's features were soft and boyish, making him look younger than he probably was. His wide, gray eyes focused on Tam's hand, but he didn't take it.
"This was a mistake," the man whispered. He shook his head and turned away. "I shouldn't have come."
Tam grabbed the man's hand and had to put his weight behind it to keep the man from fleeing. They were of similar stature and physique. He even had the same close-shaven haircut, though his hair was blond.
The man was far from the way Tam had imagined his mate would look. For one thing, he'd imagined large breasts, not a wide chest. Hard, flat abs had replaced soft, pliable curves.
Despite all of that, Tam wanted to run his hands over every part of the man. He'd never felt such a strong attraction to anyone. "I'm Tam."
"Kessen." He looked back at Tam. "I'm a man."
Tam chuckled a little but sobered quickly when Kessen's frown deepened. "I already noticed." He yanked his arm, pulling Kessen against him. Their pressed bodies enveloped Tam's cock. That little bit of contact almost made Tam come... almost.
That was all of the proof Tam needed that Kessen was his gods' chosen mate. But it seemed Kessen needed a little convincing. Tam was definitely up for the task.
Tam maneuvered them back to the stage. Kessen didn't fight him.
"I don't care that you're a man," Tam said. "I plan to prove it."
"I... I have a duty. I must marry a woman."
Tam nodded. "We'll find her together." He framed Kessen's face with his hands. "Say yes."
Kessen's frown smoothed away. A look of relief replaced it. He hugged Tam close. "Yes."

"Hard. So. Hard.

The December air bit into Adelaide, chilling her to the bone. She'd been tossed out of her home and had nowhere to go. Roaming the streets without so much as a coat, she looked for a doorway that might shelter her from the wind.
Entering Washington Square Park, she hoped to find shelter among the trees. When that failed, she curled up on a park bench and hoped she didn't freeze to death. It wasn't customary for New Orleans to be so frigid, but a cold front had moved into the area. The weatherman had said it might even snow, an oddity in the crescent city.
She closed her eyes and thought of the warmth of her bed. At nineteen, it wasn't unreasonable for her parents to think she should be more independent, especially having attended Cathedral Academy for her high school years, the best private school in the French Quarter. She'd been accepted to several colleges, including Tulane, but none of them had felt right. Now she wished she'd just selected one. It would have made her parents happy and she wouldn't be freezing to death right now.
Sleep overtook her and slipped into nightmarish dreams. Shivering in the cold, she was oblivious to the man standing in the darkness, watching her.
* * *
Once he was certain the young woman was asleep, Jean-Luc crept up on her. If left out in the elements she would surely freeze to death. While it wasn't his concern, he felt compelled to help her. Not having cared what happened to a human in over a hundred years, he was uncomfortable acknowledging the power this slip of a girl had over him. Logic told him to leave her, but his un-beating heart wouldn't be ignored. It seemed as if she had cast a spell on him, which he knew to be ridiculous since she didn't know he existed.
Lifting her into his arms, he walked down Frenchman to Royal and headed toward his home, a large mint green Victorian near Esplanade. Even without lights on, he could see well enough to unlock the door. Being a vampire had its privileges.
Pushing open the door, he entered the large house and kicked the door shut behind him. Taking the steps two at a time to the second floor, he entered his bedroom. Candles burned on candelabras; shadows danced on the walls. A fire burned in the fireplace, keeping the room toasty. While he no longer felt the cold, the fire reminded him of his human life.
Jean-Luc studied the small Creole, and gently began removing her clothes. He went to the armoire and pulled out one of his black button down shirts. Lifting her, he dressed her quickly, hoping to get her warm.
He pulled the covers over her and brushed a tendril of dark hair away from her face, tucking it behind her ear. He wondered who she was and how she came to be out in the cold. Judging by her clothes, she wasn't from the poor side of town. It seemed obvious she belonged tucked away in some grand house, warm in her bed. He loved puzzles and determined to solve this one.
Stripping out of his clothes, Jean-Luc climbed under the covers and pulled her into his arms, her soft body immediately curled into him. As his cock rose, tenting the covers, he groaned in frustration. The delectable morsel lying next to him guaranteed he would be miserable until morning.
Jean-Luc made sure to avoid sunlight during the day, but despite the belief that vampires had to sleep during the day, he usually spent his time reading. He could even consume liquids, but they weren't filling like blood.
Her heart pumping blood into her veins made his teeth ache. He wanted nothing more than to bury his cock in her pussy, feeling her surround him as he plunged his teeth into her neck, drinking the sweet nectar that filled her luscious body.
With a sigh, he watched her sleep, instantly becoming alert when she moved and her lashes fluttered.

When he's marooned on a strange planet, cosmonaut Vernon Attwater thinks his only problem is one of possibly ending up as reptile poo -- especially when the reptile chasing him looks like something out of an old science fiction movie. Little does he know that the alien who saves his life is about to complicate matters in ways he never imagined… ways that make him sigh, pant, groan and gasp with pleasure. Even so, surely he can control his own yearnings, especially when he's never previously felt such desires, being that the alien may look androgynous but is decidedly male in every way that matters.
Cresszna seems to have other ideas and is rather persistent. It doesn't help that Vern knows he's sending out mixed messages. He keeps saying no even as his body is saying yes, and feels rather shocked by the overwhelming sense of loss when it seems Cresszna is prepared to accept his rejection.
There's no way home and Cresszna is the only intelligent humanoid life-form he's run into. Would life, and sex, with the alien truly be so bad, especially when Vern's experiencing sensations he didn't know he was capable of feeling. Trouble is, there appears to be a price to pay if he wants to be Cresszna's mate -- one that's even more amazing than the strange things he's so far encountered on the planet.

Vern would have recoiled from the tongue that swept up the side of his face had he not been too busy goggling into the huge reptilian eye of a giant lizard that lumbered into his way. He even saw himself in that slit of a pupil, although it took him a moment to realise that the dishevelled man he saw was his own reflection. The only thing he recognised was his standard short back and sides -- the authorities at Goonhilly had ruthlessly shorn away his usually unruly curls of brown hair the moment he entered the space programme. He missed those curls more than he'd ever missed having sex with "rough ride" Nancy.
Despite, or maybe owing to, the weirdness of the situation, Vern was able to analyse his predicament as if he were on the outside looking in at events happening to another person. His survival instinct kicked in; his thoughts balanced one threat against the other. The analytical part of his mind decided the far larger creature with sharp teeth in a mouth large enough to swallow him whole was the greater menace. Therefore, when the humanoid being who had licked him grabbed his arm, dragging him in a direction away from the lizard, he offered no resistance. He ran.
As he ran, his thoughts sped as rapidly as his feet.
Ugh. Why the fuck lick my face?
What is that thing chasing us?
Us? What is this thing running beside me?
Who the fuck cares? It's big, but not as big as the creature tearing up the forest behind me.
I daren't look back.
That tongue...
Vern shuddered even as he ran. That tongue had felt like a cat's, having a similar rasping quality. The sensation wasn't entirely pleasant, but not entirely disagreeable either. It even felt... sensuous in an alarming way.
CRASH!
If a tree falls in a forest and there's no one around to hear, does it make a sound? Hell, yes! Especially if it's felled by a two thousand ton lizard!
Vern gasped, his breath hitching, warm, moist air doing little to soothe his raw throat or his burning lungs. He couldn't believe he was tired. He'd always believed himself fit. Maybe his lack of vigour had something to do with the oxygen ratio on this planet, but as most of his equipment had burnt out in the crash, he couldn't tell. Most of his equipment, most of his food supplies, and most of everything he needed to survive... gone. That was the reason he was out here doing reconnaissance.
The air was breathable and that had to suffice, although for all he knew, maybe it was killing him slowly. Then again, maybe not. Maybe he felt tired from fear, the adrenaline rush burning out too quickly. It wasn't as if any of the scenarios they put an astronaut through during training included how one would react when faced with a gigantic reptile with an apparent desire to eat you as a fucking incentive to PICK UP ONE'S GODDAMN FEET!
CR--RACK!
Another tree went down. Its fall disturbed the air and kicked up a cloud of dirt as it struck the forest floor. Vern closed his eyes against the dust for a moment only, lest he trip over an obstacle and fall. He resisted the urge to cough. He had no oxygen to spare for coughing. He stumbled, and the humanoid beside him displayed amazing dexterity and strength as it grabbed Vern's arm, pulling him back on his feet, tugging him along. He felt certain that the creature could have outdistanced him in a few strides, so why didn't it? Why didn't it just leave him behind and let the lizard munch?
CRASH. CRACK. RUMBLE. THUD. THUMP.
How did one articulate an earthquake caused by a monster stampeding through a tropical forest on some alien planet? How did one describe the riot of colours that pleased the eye even as they blurred past, and the sight terrified the heart into paralysis?
Run, Vern, run. Run, rabbit, run. Run or you're going to die, not in your dotage, not years from now, not even in a month or even later today, but in the next... few... fucking... minutes IF. YOU. DON'T. KEEP. RUNNING!
As much as Vern suddenly wanted to live, he was fast approaching the point when it would feel wonderful to admit defeat. It came as a relief when the strange being at his side stopped running and yanked him behind a tree.
A tree? What use is a fucking tree? That thing has taken down every tree in its path!
Vern was so busy with his thoughts and with trying to fill his starving lungs with much needed oxygen he almost missed what happened next. He'd closed his eyes, preoccupied with offering up a silent "Thank you" for his impending death because it would at least mean the pain would end, and he'd no longer have to spend yet another night and subsequent day on this nightmare world, when his conscience panged.
That was defeatist talk. There was one thing that would cut through even the most terrorised heart, and that was the sound of his grandmother's voice. None of that, Vernon Attwater. We Attwaters aren't quitters!
True, but hey, let's not forget the small matter of a GIANT lizard!
The mental and rather comical image of his grandmother standing in the reptile's path, hands on determined hips, her gaze set to stare down said giant made Vern open his eyes, as if he hoped to see such an occurrence in reality. Only then did he notice the gold box with the black screen with green blinking symbols that the humanoid held in front of its face. There was no time to study the being's features in detail. Vern felt too distracted by the sight of that tongue as it flicked out, this time to lick the screen. The tongue and lining of the humanoid mouth appeared to be black. He or she had black lips too.
That thing licked me with a black tongue.
He could feel it still, where it had rasped up the side of his face in one long sweep in just the same way as it had just licked the screen. Vern rubbed his elbow remembering how one hand had gripped him there, holding him in place even as he tried to pull away from that lick. Yes, he'd tried to pull free even as he stared at the green scaly skin of the impossibly huge lizard, even as he'd seen that second inner eyelid flick over that slanted pupil as if the reptile blinked. He'd felt the lick from the humanoid's tongue, but had been unable to tear his gaze from the giant reptile that looked like a refugee from an old Doug McClure movie.
The lizard's forked tongue had flicked out, too, and for a moment, he'd believed that had been the tongue that had licked him, and tasted him, maybe sized him up for a tasty morsel. For all Vern knew that was what this other creature had done. Maybe it just wanted to check whether he was edible. Vernon edged away.
A hiss escaped the humanoid mouth. A large arm encircled Vernon's chest, forcing him back. When he struggled, the arm pressed across his neck, holding him tight. The humanoid flicked a button on the box, and the air shimmered. The reptile arrived a second later just as the humanoid transferred the box to its left hand, and then used the right to silence Vernon's impending shout.
I'm going to die. I am truly going to die.
Even though he'd considered death to be a real possibility during the last few days, now Vernon believed it. He stared into one of the lizard's gleaming eyes and just knew in that in a few hours he'd be reptile poo.
At least I'll suffocate before I'm eaten.
The humanoid had pressed a hand over Vernon's mouth and pinched his nostrils with its fingers. Vernon couldn't breathe. He tried to push the arm away, but he might as well have been wrestling with an iron bar. He tried to kick out, but a leg wrapped around his, pressing him between the humanoid and the tree. Why was this being trying to suffocate him?
It wasn't. Even as Vernon's vision dimmed, clarity rushed in. He stopped struggling while trying to nod, hoping something in his body language told the other being that he understood. Slowly, the dreadful pressure of that hand went away. Vernon fought the urge to gulp in air, tried to keep his breathing steady and most of all quiet. It was difficult, starved of oxygen from all that running, but he managed; he had to. His very life depended on his silence.
The reptile moved, tongue flicking out as if to taste the air. If Vernon remembered correctly, that was how many reptiles gained information: from taste. The closest eye, the only one he could see, did that quick second eyelid blink again. The head moved one way and then the other. The tongue flicked and swept the air. For a precious moment, everything was still, motionless. Even the chaotic sound of this planet's wildlife fell silent.
The lizard began to move off, and as if that was a cue, sounds of life recommenced in the woods. Vern and the humanoid were the only ones who stood there soundless for several minutes, even after the lizard had gone. Finally, the humanoid relaxed its grip. Vernon braced himself for a new threat and stepped away.
The term superior being took up residence in Vernon's brain the moment he took a good look. The humanoid stood there examining the box and making adjustments, almost as if Vernon had ceased to exist. He couldn't decide whether to feel grateful for being ignored, or unhappy about it. Something in the... alien's disregard displayed contempt.
Although I suppose here, I'm the alien.

The chase is on, but who is the hunter, and who is the prey?
Book Summary
Siberians live for the thrill of the chase; wolves exist for the joy of the
capture. On a foolish dare, Jasper O'Shea takes a gamble at the Last Call,
letting fate chose his lover for the night.
Detective Brutus "Brutal" Ballantine came to the Last Call looking for something
far different than a sly, clever Siberian Husky. Yet when the call comes over
the sound system, he finds himself unable to resist the lure of laughing blue
eyes and a happy tail.
The chase is on, but who is the hunter, and who is the prey?
(Author's note: While this story stands alone, it features characters introduced
in Last Call Europe: Devil's Advocate.)
ADULT Excerpt:
Without warning, Brutal came down on top of him, pinning him to the floor with
his bulk, and as hard as he struggled, Jasper was unable to escape. They lay
like that for a moment, catching their breath and waiting for their hearts to
slow their pace. Wicked teeth dug into Jasper's nape, holding him in position.
Jasper groaned. Not in animal form! God only knew how it would feel if the wolf
knotted him! He relaxed and let himself shift back to human, feeling the soft
pile of the carpet under his belly. The wolf was pressed full length over his
body, holding him in place.
"Okay… I submit!"
Jasper felt a shimmer of power, and then a very large, very aroused man took the
place of the wolf. His body responded, his ass clenching even as his prick grew
painfully hard. The carpet suddenly didn't feel so good against his skin.
Brutal began to rock against him, pressing his erection into the hard muscle of
Jasper's thigh.
"You sure? I was just getting warmed up." His voice was a growling rumble in
Jasper's ear. He rose to his knees, jerking Jasper's ass into the air. "You want
it dark and dirty, and I'm more than happy to comply, Red."
"Jasper. The name's Jasper." He gasped. "And I'd appreciate lube if you're
planning on shoving that monster up me arse!"
Brutal began laughing, and let Jasper loose. He crawled away and turned,
plopping down on his bottom. He grinned at the big man. "Gave you a good run,
didn't I?" He scooted back as Brutal began moving in his direction, still on
hands and knees.
"Shut up."
Hard lips came down on his, a rough tongue forced its way into Jasper's mouth,
and he gasped, trapped and unable to retreat any further. He had the wall at his
back and a man the size of a wall to his front. He struggled briefly, and then
submitted to the rough embrace, letting the wolf take out all his sexual
frustration in the kiss.
Their teeth clicked, and Jasper ran his tongue over the wicked canines that
hadn't yet receded completely. When he tried to move, Ballantine's hand tangled
in his hair, holding his head in place.
Suddenly Ballantine had moved away. He was on his feet, reaching down to drag
Jasper upright, hauling him bodily toward the bare, simple bed. Jasper was
tossed through the air and landed on his back, his breath gusting out on impact.
The beast followed, crawling across the mattress until he covered Jasper,
pinning him in place.
"I win." He grinned at Jasper.
"This round, perhaps."
"It's the moment that counts." He continued up Jasper's body until that flushed,
rigid pole of his was hovering just over his lips. Jasper cocked a brow, looking
up at the man who had him pinned in place.
"Suck."
"Oh, such a romantic."
He saw Brutal's lips twitch in a smile. "You've been asking for it all night.
It's time to take what you asked for, Rover. Now suck."
The head bumped against his lips and Jasper tilted his jaw back until it was
sliding down under his chin. He turned his head, and it was wrenched back when a
big hand anchored itself in his hair.
"Oh, fine. Just fine…" He opened his mouth, letting the tip of his tongue drag
up the heavily veined underside of Brutal's shaft. He turned his head slightly.
"This would be a bit easier if you'd get your knees off my arms."
"Shut up."
Jasper rolled his eyes and opened his mouth, swallowing down the engorged flesh
as Brutal pushed in ruthlessly. He sucked hard enough to strip the chrome from a
trailer hitch, watching as Brutal's face went dark with shock and pleasure.
Bastard wanted to get sucked off? Well, Jasper knew a thing or two about blowing
a man.

"Where the hell are they?" Anders said.
Tom Ryder sat on the couch and did the usual -- petted Gillian Anders' cat, Amontillado. As he stroked the tabby's ears, he watched Anders throw clothes from her drawers to the floor, all the while cursing like a sailor from her bedroom to the kitchen.
"Where in God's name are they?" She stopped and glared at Ryder.
"What?" Ryder said. He knew exactly what she meant by her stare, but he was enjoying the show.
"Don't give me that shit, Ryder." Anders stormed back into the kitchen, then turned on her heels and came back into the living room, pointing an accusatory finger at her long-time friend. She spoke slowly. "I am PMS-ing. Now tell me where they are, and I promise I'll kill you gradually."
"If you put it that way," Ryder said. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small package.
Anders' eyes opened wide. "Hard candy shell?"
Ryder nodded.
"Double chocolate coating?"
Ryder nodded once more. He pushed her over the edge. "And peanut butter inside." His smug look was all she needed as Anders' face cracked into the perfect smile.
"You bastard, Ryder. Hand them over." Anders couldn't help but laugh now.
Ryder didn't tease any longer as he tossed the package over to her.
As Anders tore into the package and crammed a palm full of the small candies into her mouth, soft coos and moans filled the living room. She closed her eyes and rolled her head back in obvious relief.
"Need a cigare --" Ryder started.
"Shut up. You knew I needed this after the day I had," Anders said.
"Yes, planting thirty acres of evergreens and low lying brush along a receding hill line can be taxing," Ryder replied.
Amontillado purred in Tom's hands in perfect contentment. Anders jammed more candy into her mouth and padded her way to her bedroom.
Speaking with her mouth full, she said, "You forgot the planter machine being stuck in two feet of mud, the four hung-over students, and the frigging bees nest I had the pleasure of uncovering in ninety degree heat."
Ryder watched her stride back to her bedroom. She'd been in the middle of changing from her work overalls into her company uniform when she had the candy attack. He was lost in deciding when she looked more beautiful -- at work, out in the woods or at home. Ryder decided she looked tremendous at all times of the day.
Anders came back into the room, yanking an ivory comb through her cherry colored hair. She stopped in front of Ryder and bent at the waist, her hair flowing past her knees. In one swift movement she threw her head back, and her hair settled in a messy style with strands flowing over her cheeks and eyes.
Ryder exploded off the couch, tossing Amontillado off to the side. He was officially possessed. Anders' mouth lay open in shock as he cupped her face in his hands, running his fingers over her earlobes. He ran his thumbs over her brow, stroking her temples in deliberate calming circles. With her eyes closed, Ryder nibbled at her lips, pushing her mouth wider.
"How do I look?" she asked.
Ryder choked on his own saliva. He realized he was heavy-petting the feline on his lap. Amontillado purred ecstatically and playfully pawed at Ryder's sweaty hands.
"Hello, Ryder? How do I look?" Anders kept tugging her uniform tight so that every curve jutted out like a seamless sculpture.
Ryder stopped petting Amontillado. Anders' expectant eyes were an almond butter explosion. The outer edges bled brown with a sliver of green dancing around her pupils. They had the warm, fiery brilliance of a campfire. He heard his granddad's old song player playing "Spanish Eyes" by someone named Elvis.
"I love you," Ryder said. Amontillado suddenly jumped from the couch and streaked into the kitchen. Ryder's back suddenly went cold. The words were just a reflex.
"I love you, too, Ryder. That candy saved my life," Anders said as she went back into the bedroom.
"I meant," Ryder stammered, "I love it. The hair. I mean, those clothes. Those clothes. Yes, those. I love them."
Anders came back into the room. She was adorned in her company uniform and an over-the-top smile. "I'm starving. The candy isn't doing it," she said through her fake smile. "Good thing they're having food at this shindig."
Ryder watched her through his peripheral vision. She checked her reflection in the glass of a dark wall photograph depicting the trunks of three massive sequoias. "Okay. I'm ready. Let's go and get kicked off," Anders said.
