Tasty Tuesday ~ Home Made Pizza

I don't have pictures of this recipe because it tends to disappear as soon as I make it. But... this is my go-to recipe for pizza crust.

1tsp oil (I use extra virgin olive oil)
1tsp honey
1 package yeast
1 cup hot water - steaming hot water
Pinch of salt (Optional)

Mix all four in a bowl then set aside for five minutes to let the yeast bloom.

Add 2-3 cups flour (can use wheat flour)
Add the flour 3/4 cup at a time. You might not need the whole 3 cups. When it's still a little sticky, knead the dough. At this point when you're adding the flour, you can experiment and add parsley, Italian seasoning, garlic or whatever you want to the crust.

Once you've kneaded it into a ball, coat the bowl in oil, place the dough in the bowl and cover. Set aside to rise for at least one hour. Works best if you let it rise for two hours.

Once it's risen, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Press the dough into a pizza pan. I tend to use a pizza pan lined with parchment. Spear the pressed dough with a fork and bake for 15 minutes.

After prebaking, add your sauce and toppings. Here's where the possibilities are endless. We tend to make pepperoni and mushroom, but fresh onion, green peppers, banana peppers, olives can be good, too.

Bake another 10 minutes.

Add the cheese or whatever you want on top. I like fresh mozzarella. It melts more evenly and it slices gooey. Bake until the cheese melts or is the right golden brown for your taste, then slice and enjoy!
