My son called me today and asked for this recipe. He was snowbound with his three toddlers and remembered how I used to make these when he was a kid. They are easy to adapt to any occasion and you can let the little ones cut out the shapes with cookie cutters. The original came from a church cookbook published in 1960.
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 eggs
21/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 375degrees. Cream sugar and butter, beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients and vanilla and beat until well mixed. Roll out and cut with cookie cutters. Bake on greased baking sheet for 10 - 12 minutes.
Enjoy!
